Torgya festival

Date: Monastic festival it's held every year for three days

The famous golden namgyal, popularly known as tawang monastery was founded by merak lama lodre gyamtso in the year 1860-81. This monastery is the largest of its kind in the country and the second largest in asia . This monastery is the fountain- head of the spiritual
life of the monpa, and sherdukpen  tribes of arunachal pradesh- the people of this region. The inner walls of the dukhang – the assembly hall are painted with murals of various divinities and saints. The silver casket wrapped in silk containing the thank as of goddess sri devi (palden lhamo) the principal deity of the monastery, is kept here. It was given to merak
lama by the 5th dalai lama.the thank as were painted with blood drawn from the nose of the 5th dalai lama. A colossal richly – gilded statue of lord buddha occupies the middle of the northern side. It is the largest image of the monastery and is about 26 feet high. The urgelling monastery is the birth place of 6th dalai lama. The dalai lama was deposed in 1706. In 1714 the destruction of all gelupa gompas was carried out by sokpa jomkhar, a mongolian warrior who invaded from bhutan.during this campaign, the dalai lama's original monastery at urgelling was destroyed. All valued possession of urgelling monastery like scriptures, statues and other objects were taken to tawang monastery . It was during this time that the
ka-gyur(scriptures) written out in gold and silver arrived at the tawang monastery, where they are preserved to this day. Today a modest gompa stands at this site

Day 1 arrived guwhati drive to 220km 5 hrs drive over/night namari eco camp.

Day 2 namari to dirang –   270km 5 hrs drive on the way visit a sherdukpen tribal village / over/ night / hotel pemaling.

Day 3  dirang  - afterbrackfast  drive to  ancient namsu village  of  dirang monpa    village  spend morning  exploring the exquisite  buddhist  gompa . Kakaling gate chusher [treaditional water mill]  and village  house  meet  the  village   floks  and get an idea  lifestyles . Return to dirang zong and lunch after lunch drive to sangti village   vist sheep
breading frem.

Day 4  dirang to tawang   140 km  5 hrs   drive enroute  visit sela pass  its 13000fit and visit
paradise lake  and  visit jang waterfulls  /  indo china  war mamorial  at jaswantghar / over/ night / hotel.

Day 5     tawang–explore the 400years old tawang monastery have oudience with rimpoche / urgelling monastery 6th dala      lama birth place / handicraftcenter / and visit seru village of monpa tribe.

Day 6 soft trek trek to kitpi village   2 hrs   trek and visit monpa tribal.  Lunch at village with monpa local food and dance   programmed at village.

Day 7 soft treks - trek from tawang to gangkong anna gompa 2 hrs trek visit  gompa and back trek and visit torgya festival

Day 8 visit torgaya   festival whole day

Day 9  visit  torgaya festival  [ morning  ]. afternoon  drive to zimethang  88km  enroute   visit monpa village  o/ night / tourist lodge

Day 10  visit secound largest  stupa in asia and its more than 400 years old and visit  pangchin pa  tribes this tribe different than  monpa tribe they are migrated  from  china  , from zimethang china is only 40km . Afternoon drive to tawang .o/night / hotel

Day 11 tawang to bomdila. 180km 6 hrs drive - day12 bomdila to kaziranga   morning visit genden nymgal monastery / local market tipi orchid center and drive to kaziranga  o/night/ wild gress.

Day 13 kaziranga - morning elephant ride / and jeep safari.

Day 14 kaziranga to gawahati fly to kolkatta / delhi by connacted flight, tour end.
