TDC -3: The Town, Village, and National Park Culture Tour: 21 Days
This tour starts from the Assamese town of Guwahati and crosses into Arunachal Pradesh to the town of Bomdila. On the way we take a short visit to the incredible Tipi Orchidarium housing over 500 species of wild orchids. Arunachal has an enviable 80% of its land under forest cover, statistics that no other state in India has achieved. The road also crosses Arunachal's and North East India's highest mountain pass – the Tse La at 13.828ft running along a ridge and the small clear Paradise Lake before reaching Tawang town (3040m). In Tawang a day is spent visiting the 'Galden Namgyal Lhatse' Gompa located at 10,200 ft from where you get excellent views of the extensive Tawang valley below. We also visit the Brandung Chung Ani Gompa a Nunnery 12 km to the North West of Tawang. Continuing our cultural journey we go on to the small hamlet of Dirang after spending some time interacting with the people in a village of the Monpa tribe. Our next destination is the Nameri National Park with its abundant wild life. After a hot lunch you have time to indulge in angling, short treks, or white water rafting. Later that evening we reach the town of Itanagar, one of the largest townships in the western part of the state. Later we visit the Ita Fort built sometime during the 14 th century and the enchanting and celebrated Ganga Lake 6 Kms away in the midst of a thick primeval forest of gigantic trees, with an amazing variety of ferns and orchids. The Jawaharlal Nehru museum is also worth a visit with its displays of wooden carvings, a range of textiles, archaeological discoveries, and different musical instruments. Then there's the interesting Handicrafts Centre that creates traditional objects with bamboo cane. You return to Guwahati for your onward destination. TDC– 4: The Tezpur – Bhalukpong – Bomdila – Tawang -
Leading out of Tezpur town, the road traverses the extensive Assam plains into the enchanting state of Arunachal. Our first stopover is at the 17 th century Tawang Monastery perched on a hill at 10,200 ft and overlooking the wide Tawang Valley. We pass the Nuranang where the river offers excellent opportunities of angling for Rainbow Trout. The trail then climbs steadily towards the 13, 828 ft high Tse La Pass and passing a high altitude lake fringed by innumerable rhododendrons descends into Tawang Valley. On the way we visit the Tipi Orchidarium home to more than 500 species of orchids that grow wild in the lush green forested hills of Arunachal. Arunachal Pradesh is known for its wealth of wild orchid species – the largest variety in the world - that sporadically bloom in the mountains. Enroute west of Tawang is the Tipi Orchidarium. At Tipi in West Kameng district you can get to view some of the rarest of orchid species in the world and visit the Orchid Museum and Herbarium. With advances in bio technology, scientists at a research centre evolve newer hybrid varieties of this exotic flower using this modern science. After this mind opening journey we return to Tezpur for your onward journey. TDC – 5: Tawang – Itanagar- Ziro - Daporijo-Along -Boleng-Mariang Pasighat-Dibrugarh - 21 days. (A variation of TDC 1)

Continuing our cultural journey we go on to the small hamlet of Dirang and after spending some time with the Monpa tribe we head on to our next destination Bomdila. Here you visit the Rabgyaling Gontse Gompa, e Upper Gompa and the Thupchob Gatseling Gompa. Tribal Discovery arranges a special audience with the Rimpoche. Later we check into the Hotel Siphiyangphong for the night. This exciting culture tour takes us through the relaxed towns and numerous tribal villages that include Ziro -Domporijo, Along-Boleng-Yinkiong-Mariyang – and finally from Urium Ghat we board the local ferry boat that crosses the expansive Brahmaputra River to take us to the other banks of this vast river. From here we drive back to Dibrugarh where you check into the Hotel Natraj for the night.
